Dental implants have transformed the face of restorative dentistry and transformed the lives of many patients at Windsor Dental Group. With new innovations, these restorations are more versatile and functional than ever before. Dr. Patrick Seely and his team collaborate to perform the All-on-4® dental implants procedure, most of the time at their Windsor, CA, practice. Using this technique, they can insert the implants at an angle, minimizing the effects on the bone. Because you will experience very little discomfort, Dr. Seely can then place an implant-supported denture immediately following your surgery.
Are You a Candidate for All-on-4® Dental Implants?
If you need to replace some or all of the teeth on your upper or lower dental arch, you may be a candidate for the All-on-4® method. To qualify for this procedure, your jaw must be able to provide a strong foundation for implants by having ample bone tissue. However, patients who require a bone graft before receiving traditional implants may still be suitable candidates.
Since the All-on-4® method places the implants at an angle to minimize the impact on surrounding tissue, there is often no need for bone grafting or a sinus lift.
Before recommending implants, we will take x-rays of your jaw and evaluate your overall health. Implants may not be appropriate if you have a serious health condition, such as an autoimmune disease. Periodontal disease may also disqualify you from receiving implants.
How the All-on-4® Method Works
Before placing implants, we will use our Panorex digital x-rays and 3-D cone beam scanners to take detailed pictures of your jaw. Using these images, we can find areas in your jawbone where the implant posts will have the greatest amount of support. Prior to surgery, we will numb your gums and jawbone, and can provide other methods of sedation if necessary. Next, we will make small incisions in your gums, through which we can insert four small titanium posts into your jawbone. By angling the posts slightly, we can provide a sturdy base for your restoration. This placement technique can simultaneously limit discomfort and impact to surrounding tissue.
Immediately following placement surgery, Dr. Seely will attach abutment pieces to the four implants. These pieces will connect to a beautiful denture, custom-crafted from photos and impressions that have been taken of your teeth. The restoration will be designed for short-term use. Nonetheless, it will be far more comfortable and natural than a standard removable temporary. The recovery period is a four- to six-month process, during which the implant posts will fuse with your jawbone. After this recovery period, Dr. Seely will attach your permanent implant-supported denture, which will be a remarkable match to your natural smile.
The Benefits of All-on-4® Implants
The All-on-4® method offers numerous benefits over traditional implants:
- With the exact placement and angle of the implants, there is often no need for bone grafting or a sinus lift.
- Because this technique involves less disturbance to your jawbone, you will experience little discomfort and inflammation.
- After only a couple of days, you will be able to enjoy your regular diet because you will have a stable implant-supported denture immediately following surgery.
- Your implant posts will prevent jawbone recession, protecting the natural shape of your face.
Traditional implants require a significant amount of bone tissue in the jaw. If you do not have enough bone tissue to support these traditional implants, All-on-4® may be an alternative treatment for you.
